Internationals - Tuesday action

30 March 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris tasted victory with France on a busy Tuesday night for our players on international duty.

Our charismatic goalkeeper, captain of club and country, played 90 minutes for Les Bleus as they saw off Russia 4-2 in a friendly at the Stade de France.

Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele both represented Belgium as they suffered a 2-1 defeat in Portugal. Nacer completed the full game while Mousa was introduced off the bench with 11 minutes remaining.

As previously reported , all five of our players in the England squad had an involvement as the Three Lions narrowly lost 2-1 to the Netherlands at Wembley. Kyle Walker played the whole game and set up England's goal, Danny Rose started and played 58 minutes – the left-back unfortunately adjudged to have handled the ball in the box which led to the visitors' equaliser from the spot moments beforehand – while Harry Kane came on as a substitute with 20 minutes left.

Dele Alli did likewise on 82 minutes, with Eric Dier following him off the bench two minutes later.

Goalkeeper Michel Vorm was an unused substitute for the Netherlands on the night.

In other European friendlies, Christian Eriksen started and played 81 minutes for Denmark as they lost 1-0 to Scotland in Glasgow, while Kevin Wimmer was an unused substitute for Austria in their 2-1 home defeat to Turkey.

Elsewhere, Josh Onomah scored England Under-19s' opening goal in their winner-takes-all European Championship elite round qualifier against hosts Spain.

The midfielder hit the target after only six minutes, setting the Young Lions on the way to a 2-0 victory which secured their place at this summer's tournament finals in Germany. Josh and Kyle Walker-Peters both played the full game.

England also had a European Championship elite round qualifier at Under-17 level, with defender Jaden Brown and attacking midfielder Samuel Shashoua both playing 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Ukraine at Burton Albion FC.

In the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, March 30), DeAndre Yedlin – currently on loan at Sunderland – put in a full shift for the US national team as they beat Guatemala 4-0 in Columbus, Ohio, in qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Erik Lamela, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Argentina in their 2-0 home victory over Bolivia in the same competition.
