Internationals - Sonny at the double against Davinson's Colombia
10 November 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Two of our players went head-to-head on the international stage on Friday – and it was Heung-Min Son who took the plaudits after his brace gave South Korea a 2-1 win over a Colombia side that included centre-half Davinson Sanchez.
With both nations having secured qualification for the World Cup finals in Russia next summer, they met in a friendly in Suwon, with both Sonny and Davinson completing the full 90 minutes on opposite sides.
Son struck the opener on 11 minutes, finishing through the legs of Cristián Zapata after wriggling into a shooting position in the box. His second followed just after the hour mark when his shot from the edge of the box squirmed beyond Colombian goalkeeper Leandro Castellanos. Zapata pulled one back for the visitors 14 minutes from time but South Korea held on.
