Internationals - Saturday action, Sunday fixtures
26 March 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
There were mixed fortunes for our players in World Cup qualifying on Saturday night (March 25).
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris captained France to a 3-1 victory in Luxembourg while Belgium – featuring Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele – needed an 89th-minute equaliser from Everton’s Romelu Lukaku to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to Greece.
Jan captained the side and played 90 minutes at the back along with Toby, while Mousa came on as a 66th-minute substitute.
Michel Vorm was on the bench for the Netherlands as they suffered a 2-0 defeat in Bulgaria. Vincent Janssen missed the game through illness.
Elsewhere, young defender TJ Eyoma scored England Under-17s’ second goal as they secured qualification for the European Championship finals with a 4-0 win over Slovenia in Bosnia.
TJ played the full game while midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe was introduced off the bench just after the hour mark.
Josh Onomah was an unused substitute for England Under-20s as they beat France 1-0 in Brittany.
