Nabil Bentaleb and Benoit Assou-Ekotto had their plane tickets to Brazil rubber-stamped today after both made their respective nations’ final 23-man squads for the World Cup.
Algeria named midfielder Nabil and Cameroon selected defender Benoit in their final travelling parties for the showpiece tournament later this month, with today being FIFA’s cut-off date for squad declarations.
Nabil, who went on as a substitute in Algeria’s 3-1 friendly victory against Armenia on Saturday, had been included in his nation’s initial 30-man provisional squad for the tournament.
Benoit, meanwhile, retained his place in Cameroon’s ranks as they trimmed their provisional squad from 28 to 23 in the wake of last night’s 2-2 draw with Germany.
We have seven players heading to the World Cup in total with Nabil and Benoit joining Belgium’s Nacer Chadli, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen, Brazil’s Paulinho and France’s Hugo Lloris.
