Southgate said: "We have several players who have excellent leadership qualities and Harry is a player we have worked with, with the Under-21s before.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen played the full 90 on a good night for Belgium in WCQ Group H.

Goals from Dries Mertens and ex-Spur Nacer Chadli saw Belgium home 2-0 in Estonia and with Bosnia & Herzegovina and Greece drawing, Belgium moved four points clear.

Vincent Janssen made it three goals in three post-season internationals as Holland hammered Luxembourg 5-0 in Group A, firing home from the penalty spot for the final goal after being upended himself in the box.

Holland are still chasing down France and Sweden in Group A but the standings closed up last night as Sweden beat France in dramatic late style in Stockholm.

Hugo Lloris captained the French team again with team-mate Moussa Sissoko also in Les Bleus' line-up.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for France, Jimmy Durmaz levelled before half-time and Sweden snatched it in added time when Hugo's clearance fell to Ola Toivonen, who drilled back home from 50 yards.

France and Sweden are now joint-top on 13 points with Holland third on 10. Only group winners goes through to Russia next summer with the eight runners-up into play-offs.
