Internationals - Friday action, Saturday fixtures

25 March 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

Ben Davies was in action for Wales as they battled out a goalless draw with Republic of Ireland in World Cup qualifying in Dublin on Friday night (March 24).

The defender put in a full 90-minute shift in a game marred by a serious leg injury sustained by Ireland’s Seamus Coleman.

Wales, who were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Neil Taylor, remain unbeaten in Group D, but have drawn four of their five games to date.

Elsewhere in Group D, Kevin Wimmer was on the bench for Austria as they secured a 2-0 home win over Moldova.

Meanwhile, Harry Winks earned his second cap for England Under-21s in a friendly in Germany, but came away on the losing side as the hosts won 1-0. Harry played 72 minutes before being substituted.

Young attacking midfielder Samuel Shashoua bagged a goal and an assist in England Under-18s’ 2-1 victory in a friendly away to Qatar, a game he started along with defender Japhet Tanganga, while Marcus Edwards and Alfie Whiteman were unused substitutes as England Under-19s secured qualification for the European Championship finals with a 3-0 win over Spain in their elite round qualifier at St George’s Park.
