Internationals - draws for England trio and Dembele, defeat for Davies
10 November 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Eric Dier skippered an inexperienced England side to a draw with old rivals Germany at Wembley on Friday night, with Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose also playing their part.
Handed the captain’s armband for the game by manager Gareth Southgate, who was without the services of a number of players through injury – including our own trio of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks, Eric put in a committed shift in midfield to help the Three Lions keep Germany at bay, the game ending goalless.
Kieran and Danny both played 71 minutes before Southgate rotated his full-backs for the closing stages.

It was an intriguing night of friendlies across Europe as Ben Davies completed 63 minutes for Wales as they lost 2-0 away to France, for whom Moussa Sissoko was an unused substitute. Midfielder Mousa Dembele, meanwhile, came off the bench at half-time to play his part in a thrilling 3-3 draw for Belgium against Mexico in Brussels.
As previously reported , Heung-Min Son’s brace secured a 2-1 friendly win for South Korea at home to Davinson Sanchez’s Colombia earlier on Friday.
In Kiev, young full-back Kyle Walker-Peters completed 90 minutes for England Under-21s as they secured a 2-0 victory over Ukraine to continue their unbeaten start to their European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign.
On Wednesday, centre-half Japhet Tanganga was part of the England Under-19s side that thrashed Faroe Islands 6-0 to get their European Under-19 Championship qualifying campaign off to a flying start in Bulgaria.
Saturday’s fixtures are headlined by vital World Cup qualification matches for Christian Eriksen and Serge Aurier. Christian’s Denmark host Republic of Ireland in the first leg of their play-off, while Serge and Ivory Coast know that victory at home to Morocco would see them top their group in the African qualifying section and advance to next summer’s tournament finals. A draw or loss would mean they lose out. Check out the full international fixture list for our players here.
