15 June 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Andros Townsend and Emmanuel Adebayor were in action on the international stage on Sunday – Ade scoring Togo’s winner in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying victory over Liberia.
The forward found the net three minutes from time to complete a 2-1 win for his nation, Sadat Ouro-Akoriko having earlier equalised following William Jebor's first half opener for Liberia.
In qualifying for Euro 2016, winger Andros started for England and completed 74 minutes as Roy Hodgson’s men claimed a 3-2 victory away to Slovenia.
A Jack Wilshere brace cancelled out Milivoje Novakovic’s first half opener for the hosts, with Wayne Rooney completing the scoring after Nejc Pecnik had equalised for Slovenia. The Three Lions now have a six-point lead at the top of Group E.
Elsewhere in European Championship qualification, new signing Kevin Wimmer was an unused substitute for Austria as they secured a 1-0 win in Russia thanks to Marc Janko’s 33rd-minute effort. Austria top Group G by four points.
