International Women's Day at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation celebrated International Women’s Day on Thursday with a range of sports activities and workshops for girls and women of all ages.
Primary schools from the local area visited White Hart Lane to learn about inspirational female athletes, while female staff from Tottenham Hotspur Foundation also visited Northumberland Park School with 40 Year 7 girls for a netball masterclass with England international player Sasha Corbin.
Sasha led the session with an opportunity for the girls to ask questions on her success as a top level athlete. Sasha said: “All women are an inspiration, from music to sport to my Mum, particularly women who have accomplished what they set out to achieve. International Women’s Day is a fantastic opportunity to inspire all women, but especially younger women, which is why I was so pleased to be invited to get involved with a netball session at Northumberland Park School.”
The day ended with a Body Combat class for female staff at Tottenham Hotspur alongside participants from Think Fit, a sports and physical activity project aimed at women in deprived communities.
Think Fit sessions have been welcoming International Women’s Day across Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest by offering fun free or affordable sessions with goodies and healthy lifestyle advice being given out.
The Foundation has been celebrating International Women’s Day all week with a range of opportunities for women to be involved in, culminating in a female only 5-a-side football tournament held at Wadham Lodge Sports Ground on Friday evening.
