International round-up - weekend action
Lewis Holtby scored as Germany Under-21s won their final preparation match against Israel on Sunday before defending their European crown this summer.
The midfielder showed quick reactions to open the scoring in the 36th minute after his initial penalty kick was saved by Boris Kleyman. Lewis was first to the rebound and headed home, taking a bang to the head along the way, but he was okay to continue.
Eyal Golsa levelled in injury time for Israel - who host this summer's European Championship Finals in June - but Kevin Volland struck in the 92nd minute to clinch the 2-1 win for Germany.
On Saturday, Benoit Assou-Ekotto played the full 90 minutes as Cameroon beat Togo 2-1 in World Cup qualifying. Samuel Eto'o scored both goals and the result leaves Cameroon top of African qualifying Group I.
Meanwhile, Academy defender Connor Ogilvie was an unused substitute as England Under-17s began their final qualifying phase for the European U17 Championship with a 1-0 win against Portugal. The Young Lions take on Russia on Monday and then Slovenia on Thursday.
