International round-up

There are some fascinating international clashes for Spurs fans to look forward to on Wednesday night.

There are some fascinating international clashes for Spurs fans to look forward to on Wednesday night.

Most eyes will be on Zagreb where Luka Modric and recent arrival Vedran Corluka will lock horns with David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas as Croatia meet England again.

Luka and Vedran are aiming for a hat-trick after home and away victories over England in Euro 2008 qualifying ended England's hopes of travelling to Austria and Switzerland for this summer's finals.

Gareth Bale and Chris Gunter are set to start together again for Wales as they come up against our new striker Roman Pavlyuchenko in Russia. The young Welsh pair were outstanding - Gareth awarded man of the match - as Wales beat Azerbaijan in Cardiff on Saturday. Now they will get the closest view possible of their new team-mate.

Those aren't the only Spurs clashes on Wednesday. Giovani's Mexico take on Canada at Tuxtla Gutierrez where he could come face-to-face with Paul Stalteri.

Gio played 70 minutes of Mexico's 3-0 win against Jamaica on Saturday while Paul skippered Canada again in their 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Honduras.

It's all or nothing for Tomas Pekhart and his Czech Republic Under-21 side in the European U21 qualifiers. The striker, currently on loan at Southampton, faces Ukraine in a match they must win after losing against Turkey on Saturday. Even that might not be enough as Saturday's win took the Turks to the top of Group Two and they only need a draw against Armenia to go into the play-offs and send the Czechs out.

Danny Rose is in the England Under-19 squad for a friendly against Holland at Shrewsbury while goalkeeper Oscar Jansson is also in U19 friendly action for Sweden against Finland.

Didier Zokora's Ivory Coast were held to a surprise draw in Mozambique but still only need a point against Madagascar to progress to the third round of African qualifying. Didier played the full 90 minutes in Maputu on Sunday.
