International round-up

24 June 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Tom Carroll and Harry Kane will be hoping for further game time this evening (Wednesday, June 24) as England Under-21s face Italy in their third group stage outing at the European Under-21 Championship finals.

Currently second in Group B with three points after two games – one point behind leaders Portugal – the Young Lions will be targeting victory to secure their place in Saturday’s tournament semi-finals in Czech Republic, where Germany or Denmark await as potential opponents.

Midfielder Alex Pritchard will not feature, having been forced to withdraw from the squad due to the injury he suffered in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Sweden.

Kick-off against the Italians will be at 7.45pm UK time (8.45pm local).

Meanwhile, Erik Lamela’s Argentina now know the identity of their opponents in the quarter-finals of the Copa America in Chile.

Having secured their qualification for the knockout stages with a 1-0 win over Jamaica last weekend, Gerardo Martino’s men take on Colombia – who qualified as one of the best third placed teams in the group stage – on Saturday, June 27, at 12.30am UK time.

Elsewhere, DeAndre Yedlin has been named in the 23-man USA squad looking to defend the CONCACAF Gold Cup title next month.

Winners of the competition in 2013, Jurgen Klinsmann’s side face a warm-up friendly against Guatemala on Friday, July 3, before kicking off their tournament campaign against Honduras on Tuesday, July 7.
