As the international break enters its second week, there’s still plenty for our players to play for across Europe, Africa and beyond.
Another round of Euro 2016 qualifiers kicks off today (Sunday) with Andros Townsend – buoyed by his goal against San Marino on Thursday night – in the England squad for their match in Estonia, kick-off 5pm.
Qualifying for the tournament finals in France continues on Monday with Nacer Chadli, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen in the Belgium squad for their trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina, while Ben Davies and Wales host Cyprus.
Tuesday’s action sees Vlad Chiriches and Romania visit Finland, while Christian Eriksen’s Denmark will be at home to Portugal.
In African Cup of Nations qualifiers, Emmanuel Adebayor and Togo will be looking for a repeat of Saturday’s 1-0 win against Uganda when they face the same opposition on Wednesday, while Nabil Bentaleb’s Algeria will be keen on continuing their 100 per cent record in qualifying when they host Malawi on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Hugo Lloris and Erik Lamela have further international friendlies on the agenda on Tuesday. Erik’s Argentina are away to Hong Kong, while Hugo and France travel to Armenia.
Teenage defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, meanwhile, is the youngest player in the USA Under-23 squad for their friendly in Brazil on Monday, while his Academy colleague Filip Lesniak is with Slovakia Under-19s for consecutive matches against Israel on Monday and Wednesday.
In European Under-21 Championship qualifying play-off action on Tuesday, Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Tom Carroll and Alex Pritchard remain with England Under-21s as they take a 2-1 advantage into the second leg of their tie in Croatia, while Milos Veljkovic’s Serbia travel to Spain for their second leg with all to play for – the first match on Friday having ended goalless.
Elsewhere, defender Dominic Ball and England Under-20s will be looking to build on their impressive form at the Four Nation Tournament in the Netherlands when they face Turkey in their final match in the competition on Monday, while midfielder Harry Winks is with England Under-19s for their Euro qualifiers against Luxembourg today (Sunday) and Belgium on Wednesday.
