Interim Academy Training Ground deal agreed

We are delighted to announce that we have agreed a deal with Frenford Clubs to host our eight to 16-year-old Youth Academy players at their Oakfields Sports Ground site for the next two seasons ahead of moving to our new Training Centre at Bulls Cross, Enfield.

We are delighted to announce that we have agreed a deal with Frenford Clubs to host our eight to 16-year-old Youth Academy players at their Oakfields Sports Ground site for the next two seasons ahead of moving to our new Training Centre at Bulls Cross, Enfield.

The development on Fencepiece Road, Barkingside will stage a number of our weekend and holiday training and playing activities for players within these age groups ahead of the Club's move to new training facilities in Enfield, due for completion in 2012.

The opportunity to use Oakfield as an interim training facility arose following Frenford's decision to move to a new purpose-built facility, which is expected to be ready later this year.

Youth Academy activity for our younger age groups had previously taken place at the Academy pavilion at Myddleton House, however this site is now unusable whilst being integrated into the development of our new scheme.

Academy Manager John McDermott said: "I am delighted that we have been able to agree this partnership with Frenford Clubs and be able to contribute to their charitable foundation.

"As an Academy, we are extremely excited to be moving to a new state of the art training centre in two years time.

"We have visited over 30 potential sites in north London in order to find an interim facility. Frenford have a fantastic pavilion and our groundstaff are already working hard on the pitches at Oakfield in order to get them up to standard.

"This partnership will also allow Frenford to maintain the cricket arm of their organisation until the wickets at their new development are bedded in and ready to use."
