In defence of Taricco
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle has defended Mauricio Taricco following Dave Bassett’s attack on our Argentinian full-back.
The boss studied a video of the incident with Leicester’s Andy Impey during Saturday’s game at White Hart Lane and remains convinced that 'Tano' is the injured party.
But following a telephone conversation with Bassett the two managers are determined to forget the whole matter.
“I was disappointed with Dave’s reaction and with the quotes attributed to him but we’ve now spoken together and have sorted it out,” said Glenn.
“There is a right way to do these things and going public does not help.“Tano has been unfairly criticised because the video clearly shows that he was pushed in the face and that Impey was lucky not to have been sent off.”
Meanwhile, Bassett also moved swiftly on Monday to diffuse the row.
The City boss said that many of his comments should not have been taken literally and that, as far as he was concerned, the matter was now closed.
Bassett said: "I was asked a question to which I gave an honest and forthright answer but I had not expected my comments to be taken quite so literally.
"I stand by my view of what happened on the pitch but I do not wish for there to be any more continuing debate about one isolated incident.
"I do not wish to see the FA, nor anyone else for that matter, to investigate or be involved. As far as I am concerned, the matter is now closed."
