'Important that we didn't concede' - Danny

31 August 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Danny Rose highlighted our clean sheet as one of the major plusses to come from Saturday’s draw with Everton.

Harry Kane and Ryan Mason both had chances to break the deadlock at White Hart Lane, but Tim Howard stood firm in the Toffees’ goal and the match ended without score.

In spite of our missed opportunities, left-back Danny, making his first appearance of the season, felt the shutout at the other end was an important factor as we shared the spoils for a third week in a row.

“It was nice to get a clean sheet as we haven’t had one yet this season,” said the 25-year-old.

“We created some very good chances but we just couldn’t finish them and put the ball in the back of the net.

“It’s disappointing in that respect, but we played a lot better today than we have done and we didn’t concede any goals so there are some positives to take from the game.”

Danny came into the starting line-up against Roberto Martinez’s side at the expense of Ben Davies and quickly set about producing a lively display, similar to those which earned him widespread acclaim last term.

But he said he still believes he has more to give as we start to build towards our next game after the international break – a trip to his former loan club, Sunderland.

“I got really tired after 65 to 70 minutes so I’m a long, long way to getting back to how I finished last season,” he admitted.

“That said, I’ve given myself a nice platform and it’s a shame for me that international break comes so quickly because I’d like to build on this performance today.”
