Eidur Gudjohnsen is determined to play his part as we bid for a place in the Premier League's top four.

The former Chelsea and Barcelona forward's move from French side Monaco was officially announced by the Club on Saturday and he's ‘glad to be back' in England after leaving Stamford Bridge for La Liga in 2006.

Eidur, who helped Barca to a historic treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League last term, has continued to follow the Premier League and knows all about our ambitions this season.

"It's great to be back in England, just to be back in the dressing room, the atmosphere, the sense of humour, it's good," he said. "I'm very grateful and looking forward to this opportunity to play for Tottenham Hotspur.

"Waking up on a matchday it seems the whole world is looking at the Premier League and I miss that. I'm really looking forward to it."

So what would he be bringing to the Spurs table? "I've got a lot of experience, so just to be an influence in the dressing room, I hope, and to give the manager and the team a different option.

"So far it's a very big season for Spurs and I bring more depth to the squad and another option for the manager to use on a matchday.

"The team should be looking at this fourth place and really going for it and to do that and still be in the FA Cup you are going to need a squad to get to the finish line. I hope to be part of that.

"I'm really exited. It's a great feeling to be back and it's fair to say I've found big motivation again. I'm very focused on doing all I can to help the team."
