'I'm hungry for goals' - record-breaker Sonny
05 November 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
What a Sunday for Sonny!
Heung-Min Son scored a wonderful goal to become the highest scoring South Korean in Premier League history as we fought to a 1-0 win against Palace - all in front of family and friends at Wembley.
As debutant goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga helped us keep a clean sheet at one end, Sonny delivered at the other, a 20-yarder curler to secure a vital victory.
The goal took him beyond South Korean legend and his own idol Park Ji-Sung, who notched up 19 Premier League goals for Manchester United.
“Today is a very happy day for me - I scored, we won, I broke the record and my family was here, my brother, my friends, it was a special day for me,” said Sonny. “I’m just thankful for everyone supporting me.
“Park Ji-Sung had the record and he’s my idol. He’s a legend. He’s got everything. I’ve a lot to do to catch him.
“It’s a record which makes me happy. I can enjoy this day but I’m still hungry. I hope I can score many, many goals for Spurs.”
