I'm always looking forward - Hugo
01 March 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Hugo Lloris is all set for his 200th appearance for the Club and underlined his mentality by stating: "I want more."
The world-class goalkeeper and hugely-respected captain of both Spurs and France took his tally to 199 matches for us in all competitions in Sunday's fine win against Stoke.
Incredibly, it's approaching five years since Hugo first arrived here from Lyon with his debut arriving against Lazio in the Europa League in September, 2012.
“I’m always looking forward, never back and of course I’m pleased with that (200), but it’s never enough," said Hugo.
"I can see massive improvement and that’s down to the gaffer and his staff, they’ve brought this energy, this atmosphere and this philosophy of work and I feel completely happy in my professional life, and that’s very important. But it’s never enough and I want more. I want more from myself, from my team-mates, from the Club and that’s my mentality.”
Hugo is an important cog in a defensive machine that has conceded just 18 goals in 26 games in the Premier League this term, and just five in 13 at the Lane so far.
Next up - and game number 200 for Hugo - will be Everton at the Lane on Sunday. "Everton are in very good form and the good thing is we are as well, especially at White Hart Lane," he added. "We’ll be ready for the challenge and ready to enjoy our football."
