Ifil targets Leeds
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Philip Ifil is hoping to be given the chance to return to his age group and help the under-17s progress through the play-off stages of the FA Premier Academy League.
The 17-year-old has enjoyed a big season where he has been pushed onto the under-19 side, been pretty much a regular in the reserves and played in the England under-20 side in the World Championships in the UAE.
Playing in the championships meant missing out on the FA Youth Cup this year and he views this Saturday's play-off quarter final against Leeds United as another chance to enjoy some knock-out success at club level.
"I've been playing for the under-19s and reserves, but I've been called into the squad and we want to win it," he considered at Spurs Lodge this week.
"I missed the Youth Cup because of international duty so this is another chance for me and this could be the Cup team for next year. We will do our best and we really want to go all the way.
"No-one knows the team yet and Thursday will be our main preparation with the tactical stuff. Friday will be light work and then we travel.
"This has been my year since under-10s and it is good to be back together. We've always had a good team and have some good players coming up."
With Saturday's game having to reach a conclusion on the day, a spot of penalty practice was undertaken this week with one notable miss...
"Better to get it out of the way now than on Saturday! I've taken one before for England and scored."
