'I still have more to give' - Mousa
03 November 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Mousa Dembele declared “I don’t want to stop here” after scoring his second goal in as many games during Monday night’s win against Aston Villa.
The Belgian international muscled away from Ciaran Clark down the left side before firing us into the lead from a tight angle with only three minutes played at White Hart Lane.
It gave us the ideal platform to go on and claim a 3-1 victory and continued the resurgent form of the 28-year-old, who was also on target at Bournemouth last week following his recent comeback from a foot injury.
Reflecting on his contributions of late, Mousa felt his early strike came as a great boost on Monday night but insisted he still has more to give.
“I was happy that I scored quickly tonight – I think that gave us more confidence to go on and win,” he said.
“When I got a sight of goal I just wanted to put it as hard as I could along the floor and I knew if I shot it hard it would pass the keeper somewhere.
“I’m happy with my form but I think I can improve much more. I hadn’t played for a long time until a couple of weeks ago – a month-and-a-half – but I feel like I’ve started to get fitter.
“In pre-season I felt really fit with the games I was playing and now I’m feeling that again and I’m happy with the goals as well.
“For me it’s something that has been my aim for a long time – to score more goals – and of course I’m happy with the two in the last two games but I want to continue. I don’t want to stop here, I want to keep scoring and be important for the team.”
