'I knew we'd come back'

Harry Redknapp had no doubts that we'd bounce back from Madrid against Stoke on Saturday.

Harry Redknapp had no doubts that we'd bounce back from Madrid against Stoke on Saturday.

The manager described last week's 4-0 defeat in the Champions League quarter-final, first leg as a 'one-off' after we went down to 10 men after 15 minutes.

The team hit top form back at the Lane with an impressive first half display and the only question being asked was how we weren't out of sight by half-time.

We dominated and scored three goals yet Stoke produced two fine goals to stay in the match.

That led to a few nervy moments late on as Stoke bombarded our box but we held firm to take a deserved 3-2 victory.

"It was just the response I expected, we play like that every week," said Harry.

"We don’t get many bad days here (at White Hart Lane). How many times have we lost at home since I’ve been here? It won’t be too many, that’s for sure.

"We always play well here, always have a go and we’ve great professionals and good players here.

"I knew we’d come back.

"It was just a one-off night in Madrid. It was a game you have to forget about. I didn’t go home as despondent as I can be after a defeat because circumstances of going down to 10 men after 15 minutes, it’s impossible.

"You can’t take on Real Madrid, one of the great teams of world football, with 10 men. Eventually they will open you up and that’s what happened. It was a difficult night."

And to answer Harry's question - we've lost just six times in 67 matches in all competitions at the Lane since he's been at the club.
