I knew it was good - Luka
Luka Modric didn't want to go overboard on his wonder strike at Bolton, but admitted: "As soon as I hit it, I knew it was going well."
The Croatian maestro played a starring role in our 4-1 win, another key three-point haul in our bid for a place in the top four and our first win at the Reebok Stadium in the Premier League.
The first goal is always key and Luka delivered in style, taking Rafa van der Vaart's angled corner 30 yards from goal, controlling and unleashing a volley into the top corner.
As you would expect, Bolton hit back in the second half, levelled in the 51st minute and looked dangerous for the opening 15 minutes, but Luka then played two killer passes in the space of two minutes that turned the game back in our favour.
The first sent Gareth Bale clear down the left and the winger crossed for Rafa to sweep home the second goal.
The second was even better, pinpoint accuracy to send Aaron Lennon into the box and he squared for Emmanuel Adebayor to tap home for 3-1. Bale set-up Adebayor for 4-1 in the 69th minute and it was all over.
"The most important thing is that we won this very big game for us, and now we’re one point behind Arsenal and in a good position," said Luka.
"We have two more games to the end and we’re looking to finish the season strong, to finish in the top four and hopefully higher, if Arsenal make a mistake. We’ll see.
"It’s important we’re playing well, we’re back to our good form, we need to concentrate on ourselves and keep going."
As for his goal, Luka added: "Sometimes they go in, sometimes not, but I’m glad it went in. I’m happy about the goal and happy for the performance.
"Bolton is always a hard place to play. We did well, even when we conceded the goal we didn’t panic, we continued to play our game and scored three more good goals. It’s an important win."
