Hugo's eyes on Spain

Hugo Lloris can’t wait for arguably the pick of the World Cup qualifiers in this international break in Spain tonight.

The goalkeeper and French captain travels to Madrid to take on World and double European champions at Atletico Madrid’s Vicente Calderon Stadium.

The matches between the teams will play a huge part in qualification with only the winners of the nine groups in European qualifying guaranteed a place in the finals in Brazil in 2014. The best eight runners-up go into play-offs.

The teams met in the quarter-finals of this summer’s European Championships with Spain recording a comfortable 2-0 win on the way to defending their title.

“This is a great game for France,” said Hugo, who made his Premier League debut for us in the 2-0 win against Villa last time out.

“We need a good result for the qualification for Brazil.

“It’s always a challenge to play against Spain. We lost in the Euro quarter-finals, it will be the same team and we know what to expect, so we have to be strong, to enjoy it and to play a great game.”
