Hugo Lloris is looking forward to Wednesday night's Capital One Cup quarter-final against Newcastle and stated: “This is what we work for.”
The in-form goalkeeper captained the team on his 100th appearance for us in another dramatic late win at Swansea on Sunday.
But as the team departed Wales, focus was quickly turned to Newcastle, the chance to reach the last four of the Capital One Cup and a two-legged semi-final for the right to walk out at Wembley.
“Of course the league is really important but to win a trophy like the League Cup or in European competition is always a pleasure,” said Hugo.
“It’s important for the club, the fans and all the players because you work every day to get the chance to win a trophy.
“It’s still a long way though. Newcastle is a big club and a team in form at the moment. It’s a big game for us.”
Meanwhile, on reaching three-figures for the club, Hugo added: “I’m very pleased, although I’m not counting my games!
“I’m still focused and concentrated on the targets of the club and the team and we don’t have time to think about ourselves, we’re in the team and try to help the team to get wins.”
