Chris Hughton offers his regular assessment of forthcoming opponents, this time Chelsea, who visit the Lane on Saturday...
THE VISIT OF Chelsea is one of the big dates on the calendar for us. For a couple of reasons mainly, we have found it very difficult to beat them at White Hart Lane - Stamford Bridge as well... - and the fact they are the new league champions. It makes it an even more special occasion playing against them.
That said, what is up for grabs is three points - exactly the same as against any other team.
Martin and players are not at all affected by our record against Chelsea. What affects us is the quality they have got and which players are going to play. We know what shape they will adopt as it has been the preferred by Jose Mourinho for the large majority of his time there.
Of course, it is about the quality in his side and whether we can affect their game and do well enough to go on and win.
There is no reason why we can do very well. The fact is we are playing at home and have a good record there. We haven't lost in three games and have yet to concede a goal, so I don't think we go into the game with any shortage of confidence.
You are always aware when you are up against arguably the best team in the country but we are at home and will be seeking to win the game. If I look at the top teams, Arsenal have a great fluency to their game but, what Chelsea have shown over the last year is an efficiency. On days where they perhaps don't play so well, defensively they are still very sound and don't give too much away.
They have some wonderful offensive players but also some excellent players at the back.
It is dangerous to leave yourselves too open because they can punish you and you have got to play very well to break them down. Chelsea have great options but, whatever side they put out, it will inspire us to want to go out and win the game.
