Hughton's Notes

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton's regular assessment of our forthcoming opponents - next up, it's the big one against Arsenal at Highbury...

AS ALWAYS, we're very excited by the prospect of going to Highbury. It is always a special, one-off game, whatever the circumstances of either team. One thing that never changes is the anticipation going into this game, the demand for tickets and the excitement builds up the closer you get to kick-off.

I think Chelsea are the best team in the country this season and their league position and the fact they are still in the Champions League underlines that. But Arsenal are still a top, top quality side and the fact that Gilberto is back in the side gives them more, plus, of course, the prospect of Sol returning for this game.

They don't change much from a 4-4-2 formation. Every team is fearful of Henry and if you can talk in terms of him raising his game, you get the feeling Spurs v Arsenal means a lot to him. I think he appreciates what it means to the supporters.

Without Henry, Reyes perhaps hasn't scored the goals they would have liked but him and Bergkamp are still great quality up front. It's usually four across the midfield with the big plus for them Gilberto back in there and that gives Vieira that little more licence to break on. In the wide areas they have Pires, the full-backs get forward at home and they are solid at the back.

We haven't done too well at Highbury over the years although the performances have been okay. We've played well. Look at last season, that was a game we should have won. That's disappointing. You can't play too open a game because they have the forwards to open you up, it's important you don't give anything away, particularly early in the game and that being the case, you grow in confidence and strength.
