Hughton's notes

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton's regular rundown of our forthcoming opponents - this time it's Manchester City at the Lane.

KEVIN KEEGAN'S side was always an offensive side and that means you are always leaving yourself open to conceding goals. But that's one thing they haven't been doing of late. Even before Kevin left recently, they hadn't been conceding as many goals and that's partly down to the consistency of the two centre-halves Dunne and Distin. I'm sure the consistency comes from that they've playes so many games together.

City have also changed their system with one up front in Fowler, who is always a tremendous goalscorer and Sibierski playing a little deeper just behind him. As a team they've made themselves harder top beat and although Wright-Phillips is injured, when you've got him and Fowler in the same side you've got goals.

Obviously I know Richard Dunne well from Ireland and I suppose you could say Dunne's done well! Even before my involvement with Ireland I knew what a good centre-half he could be. He's had period where he's played at right-back and he's had a few problems but I think the fact he's now playing regularly means he's playing consistently. He's in good shape and what surprises most about him is his pace - for a big lad, he's got pace.

You get the feeling Robbie Fowler is getting back to his best. Where he has improved is that he's further away from his injuries. Over the last couple of years when he's come back from an injury it's taken him time to get back into the swing of it. I'd say he's looking as fit now as he has for a long time. As regards his ability to score goals, fit or unfit, he'll score goals.
