Hughton's Derby daze
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton naturally cast his mind back to April 1983 when asked for his favourite memory of Derby day.
The choice was hardly surprising since the now first team coach netted twice in the game that resulted in a 5-0 win for Spurs - Mark Falco also bagged a brace.
"It would have to be the game at White Hart Lane when we managed to score five goals and I managed to score two - the only time in my career I did that," reflected Chris ahead of this weekend's Derby clash at the Lane.
"For that to happen against Arsenal was very special," he continued, adding that the game is still just as special to today's players. "They are special days and there is no doubt in my mind that it means as much now to the players as it did then.
"The game means everything. To get a positive result would give the club the lift that it needs and the same for the players. There is no doubt that where we are in the league affects the players, as does every bad result.
"It is important for everybody, the players, staff and fans.
"Even for an Arsenal side, a club that have bought in a lot of foreign players, I get the feeling that it means as much to them as it does to us - it is an occasion that has never changed.
"We all know what it means to the supporters, particularly with the way things are going now, it is something that you know afterwards will live with them for a while. You always want good things for the supporters and, if you are able to put one over your rivals, it creates a feel-good factor for a bit."
*If you are coming to the game on Sunday, please ensure that you arrive at the ground in good time to take your seat as there will be security checks at the turnstiles.
