Hughton's City slickers

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton has seen his reserve side’s fortunes turn full circle.

At the start of the month he was left fuming after a 5-1 reverse at Charlton. On Tuesday he was left beaming after a superb display and 6-0 win against Leicester City in the FA Premier Reserve League.

“I was delighted with that,” Chris enthused. “It’s been quite a good week with us winning last week, the first team winning on Saturday and us now winning in fairly emphatic style.

“I’m just happy for the lads. We had a very disappointing performance at Charlton a few weeks ago and all we asked of them was a reaction.

“I’ve got to say since then they’ve been top class. Now we’re already looking forward to the next game.”

Willem Korsten stole the show at the Lane with a four-midable display of finishing for his four goals.

The first half failed to give any indication of what was to follow with Spurs leading 1-0 but the second half was a joy to watch as we rattled in another five.

Hughton reflected: “It was a hard first half and we didn’t play particularly well but it was nice to go in at half-time having not played so well but still winning. It was a lot to build on.

“The second-half performance was very good and apart from the fact we scored the goals we had further opportunities.

“Sometimes in this type of game you go two, three up and the opposition has two options — push to get back into the game, which is what they did, but what happens then is the game opens up and we are the ones who benefited from that.”
