Hughton talks Rovers

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton suspects that Saturday's opponents Blackburn will be experiencing similar emotions to ourselves as the season draws to a close.

Both clubs entered the campaign with healthy optimism - Rovers seeking to build on a strong finish to last season that saw them win a UEFA Cup place. However, events have not panned out as either side would have wished and both have not spent the nearly ended term at the preferred end of the table.

Greame Souness' side ended any lingering fears of the drop with a strong recent patch that has seen them win their last four games. This has been a vital sequence as their previous three ended in defeat.

"There are possibly periods when we have done better than them this season and results do show that," reasoned the first team coach.

"I think they would feel very similar to ourselves and, considering where they finished last season, they would not have expected to be drawn into a late fight.

"Of course, what they have done, is put together a run at the right time. It is no surprise when you look at the players they have got in their squad. I know they lost a few and it must have been difficult to replace Damien Duff."

A key figure in the Rovers return to form has been January signing Jon Stead, the 21-year-old striker recruited from Huddersfield. He appears to have taken to the Premiership and has chipped in with six goals in 11 games since joining.

Chris feels that Stead and the experienced Andy Cole and Tugay are definitely ones to watch at the Lane.

"The lad Stead has had a great time since he's moved from Huddersfield. You are never quite sure how young players are going to settle in, but there is always going to be the one surprise package who settles in a lot quicker than expected and certainly he is one.

"The goals he has scored have enabled Blackburn to finish off the season very well.

"Cole, of course, is a proven goalscorer and is still very, very much a threat. Tugay in the middle of the park is very comfortable on the ball and certainly gives them creativity and pops up with the odd goal himself."

So, with Chrissie's Republic of Ireland hat on, has the eligibility of the aforementioned Stead been checked out yet?

"I think we are in the process of doing that at the moment! I think the answer is no, but it would be nice."
