Michael Dawson is a man very much looking towards the future as he drives Spurs on with the immense example he consistently sets at the heart of our defence.

'Daws' is the main interview in the March issue of our ever-popular official monthly magazine hotspur. And he admits that his new Spurs contract and his regular role as team captain have galvanised his efforts to an even higher degree.

"Things are going fantastically well - signing a new contract was superb," he says. "It doesn't make me think or play differently though, I just get on with my job.

"But for a player to get that vote of confidence is a really big thing, and being handed the captaincy when Ledders is out just took that to another level. It has been a very proud time for me."

Read the full interview in the March hotspur where Daws also features in an exclusive series of top photographs. And there is also the chance to win Michael's signed match boots in our free-to-enter competition

Dawson's in there with the returning Younes Kaboul who admits: "I'm glad to be back at Spurs." And he knows that he can take nothing for granted and will have to battle for his place.

"It's good to have a lot of players because there are a lot of games. It means you have to fight every day in training to play and I'm ready for that," he vows.
