Jermain Defoe is the main subject of the October issue of hotspur, on sale from Friday.

Jermain Defoe is the main subject of the October issue of hotspur, on sale from Friday.

Backed up by a series of superb photographs, our exclusive interview with Jermain covers his explosive form for Spurs and England and why his injury at the end of last season gave him even more appetite for the game.

He says: "The rest...made all the difference. That's the reason I'm now producing the best form of my life."

We also feature new signing Niko Kranjcar, who talks about his optimism at joining Spurs and linking up again with so many personalities from his career to date - Harry Redknapp, Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka, Defoe and Peter Crouch.

"I'm sure I'll have no problem settling in," he predicts. "I know I will face competition for a place in midfield but that's why this is such a big club - the squad is packed with international players."

Tom Huddlestone answers our questions in ‘Onside' and takes us back to Euro '96 for his first footballing memory as a child. And we look ahead to South Africa 2010 where the Spurs influence could go a long way as the tournament's eventual line-up begins to take shape.

We also take a close look at our world-class New Training Centre as work begins at Bulls Cross, Enfield.

Cricketing Spurs supporters Marv Hughes and Jonathan Trott discuss the great rivalry between England and Australia during and after the recent Ashes series. And they also reveal what made them fans in the first place.

Manager Harry Redknapp answers questions from supporters in his regular two-page column and talks about the strength of our forward line, the arrival of Kranjcar, and his own footballing influences as a youngster.

Our new team picture for the current season is revealed together with the story behind the news that we are set to become a Global Team Ambassador for Special Olympics.

We look back at 10 of the club's great comebacks over the years - both in games and involving individual careers - while Radio 1 DJ Nihal gives his own personal slant on recent events in his exclusive column.

Paul Allen features in our regular ‘Still Going Strong' slot, while Graham Roberts looks back on season 1984-85 - in particular, the 4-0 home win over Stoke City when he was on the scoresheet. Meanwhile, 'Tottenham Tales' re-lives the 1972-73 campaign with key man and captain Martin Peters.

With 'Fanzone' allowing plenty of feedback from readers, the October issue of hotspur is one not to be missed.
