Hot Cole set for Lane debut

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle says Andy Cole's arrival at Blackburn could be bad timing for us - but insists our first game of 2002 is all about Spurs, not Rovers.

Graeme Souness clinched the £7.5m capture of Cole from Manchester United on Saturday and the striker is likely to make his debut at the Lane tomorrow afternoon.

Glenn knows Cole's arrival will hand Rovers a timely boost but the boss has more pressing matters on his mind - like ending our Christmas run of three games without a win.

Glenn said: "They've had some bad results and their confidence has been low but that will pep them up again, to bring in a player such as Andy Cole, who is a danger.

"It's probably bad timing from our point of view but we haven't got to worry too much about what they are thinking or what their aims are.

"We have to go and perform like we did at Villa and even at times in the second half against Ipswich and make sure we get the points. It's got to be an eight out of ten performance.

"We've got to go out there and recover the points we lost against Ipswich.

"We need to go out there with our positive heads on and get those points, no doubt about it. We must maintain our position in the league."

Glenn and the boys will also want to put right what they all consider to be our worst display of the season when we were beaten 2-1 by Rovers at Ewood Park back in August.

"I still felt we had hope all through that game that we were going to score, but defensively we weren't a unit," recalled Glenn. "But I think we've come a long way since then.

"One of the coaches at Aston Villa, who we played in the first game of the season, said he felt we'd come a hell of a long way since that game. I'm thinking the same way for this game against Blackburn."
