Honours even in Dublin

It finished all square as our three Croatians took on Robbie Keane's Republic of Ireland on Wednesday night.

It finished all square as our three Croatians took on Robbie Keane's Republic of Ireland on Wednesday night.

Vedran Corluka, Niko Kranjcar and Luka Modric all lined-up for Croatia for the friendly international at Dublin's new Aviva Stadium.

Chances were few and far between as it ended goalless although Luka, Niko and Vedran, who regularly got forward from right-back, were central as Croatia enjoyed the majority of possession.

Croatia had decent appeals for two penalties in the first half, the second when Stephen Kelly appeared to haul down Ivan Strinic from a delightful pass from Luka.

Niko also fired over in the first half and Luka was inches away sliding home Ivica Olic's cross after the best move of the second half.

Niko played 65 minutes, Vedran 73 and Luka put in a full shift.

At the other end, Robbie worked tirelessly in his 108th cap for the Republic and had one half-chance saved comfortably by another ex-Spur, Stipe Pletikosa. Villa's Richard Dunne headed their best chance over in the second half.
