Home form key - Gareth

Gareth Bale insists home form will be key for the rest of the season.

Gareth Bale insists home form will be key for the rest of the season.

The team has recovered in style from the early defeat against Manchester City to record impressive victories against Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League.

Those wins stretched our home record under Harry Redknapp to just six defeats in 56 matches in the Premier League since October 26, 2008.

In all competitions, we've lost just eight of 77 matches since Harry's arrival.

It is a record Gareth insists we have to continue as we compete for a place in the top four.

"I think the main thing for any team is home form," said Gareth, in flying form for club and country so far this season.

"You look at Manchester United and they haven't lost (at home) in who knows how many games.

"We want to make White Hart Lane a place that when teams come here, they fear us.

"We’re looking to do that and I think as long as our home form’s good then we’ll be right up there."

Gareth added that wins against Liverpool and Arsenal - seen as key rivals for a place in the top four - were all the more special, not least the derby success over the Gunners last time out.

"It’s massive for us to beat the bigger teams, especially our local rivals, which is important, not just for us but for the fans," said Gareth, who is set to line-up for Wales against Bulgaria on Tuesday night.

"We look to win every game and hopefully we can keep doing that.”

Our next match is on the road though with a trip to in-form Newcastle this Sunday. “They’ve made a great start to the season.” added Gareth.

“It will be a test for us, but one we’ll be ready for and hopefully we’ll go up there and make it five on the trot in the Premier League.”
