Hod's Notes

Tue 26 August 2003, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

FIRST of all I've got to say the crowd were fantastic against Leeds on Saturday.

We could tell the fans were up for it from the start and the important thing was to hear that support when we went 1-0 down. That's when we needed it and the lads responded to it.

Mauricio Taricco's goal took the roof off and the crowd was really pumped up.

It's funny, I sauntered over to Tano before the start of the game and told him that I fancied that he would score like that, cutting in from the left.

It was a magnifcent strike and as good a goal as anyone has scored at White Hart Lane.

Obviously Fredi Kanoute then came on and scored another goal to remember. He was close to not being involved but the medical lads worked hard on him throughout the week.

He almost didn't play though - it was a gut feeling on Thursday. We had a practice match where he played and he looked good.

On Friday I said to our physios Ali Beattie and Chic Wilkinson that we needed to talk about the situation and Fredi was up for it.

He was on for half an hour but he looked as if he'd been here for two seasons. I was delighted for him.

I've got to say though, while we've talked about the goals, Dean Richards and Ledley King deserved a pat on the back. They only played 90 minutes for the reserves against Portsmouth last Tuesday night and after missing pre-season, that really isn't enough.

But we took a chance and they responded. I can't remember a chance after Leeds scored and we should have done better on that. Credit to them and Anthony Gardner.

We looked solid and there wasn't a player out there who didn't play a part - they were all 7, 8 and sometimes 9 out of ten

Overall, it was as good as we've seen for a long time We went that goal down and that was a blow because once they got in front we had to keep the balance of trying to get back into the game and not give the second away.

But we had that shape and balance. It was good performance and we could have come away scoring four or five.
