Hoddle's up-Beattie

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Southampton manager Glenn Hoddle paid homage to in-form striker James Beattie after his side’s win at The Dell.

Beattie was a handful all night and scored the opening goal after 37 minutes. Ninety seconds later Kevin Davies (pictured) grabbed the second as we were punished for not capitalising on another good start away from home.

"James gave their centre-backs a very difficult night, I think they would probably say that themselves,” Hoddle enthused.

"I don't think Paul Jones made a save for us all night and the only disappointing thing was we didn't finish them off.

"We have been close to getting on a run for a while now but this will mean nothing if we don't get three points against Derby on Saturday.

"I was delighted with our performance, apart from the first 25 minutes," Hoddle added. "I thought we were very slow coming out of the traps.

"But it's the first time we have scored when we were playing like that since I've been here. Once we scored I thought we performed well.

"Jo Tessem made great runs from deep and Kevin Davies was rewarded with his first goal for a while.

"Whether it was a tactical battle or not I don't know, but my players turned around a bad start and that's pleasing."
