Helen heads back to goal

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Lightning struck twice for Helen Wilson — now it’s time for Spurs Ladies to turn up the heat in the Greater London Ladies League.

Wilson will be back in goal against QPR on Sunday after crashing her head on the woodwork in making a fine save at Billericay last week.

Incredibly she did exactly the same at the same ground last season — on that occasion she was playing on pitch and suffered a clash of heads!

Spokeswoman Kay Lovelock said: “Helen made a superb save, hit her head on the post and the bump came up like an orange. It was amazing because she did the same there last season!”

“She’s okay though and will be fit for Sunday. She’s a brave girl, a great player and great to have around. To be fair though, all the girls are terrific. We couldn’t ask for a better bunch.”

Spurs know they have to win against QPR at the Frederick Knight Sports Ground, Tottenham, on Sunday (2pm) — promotion chances hinge on winning the GLLL Premier Division title and then winning play-offs.

So did that mean extra pressure? “There is a lot of pressure on every game,” added Kay. “We know we can’t afford to drop points because in reality, that means points gained for our main rivals.

“We dropped a few points early on last season and that cost us. We couldn’t catch up. So we’re trying to make sure the same doesn’t happen again.”As well as the first team’s home game against QPR, the reserves travel to Colney Heath Reserves in GLLL Reserve Division One (11am) and the Under-13s host Bedford in the Herts Girls League (11am).
