Harry's goal-den 2015
29 December 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
If 2014 turned into Harry Kane’s year, 2015 has belonged to him.
Kicking-off with a double in the 5-3 win against eventual-champions Chelsea at the Lane on New Year’s Day, it’s been milestone after milestone for the Academy product over the last 12 months.
To quickly reel them off hardly does him justice, but here goes anyway - first Premier League hat-trick, first home-grown Spur to score 20 league goals since Mark Falco in 1985, first Spur to score 30 goals since Gary Lineker in 1992, 31 goals in all competitions, PFA Young Player of the Year, clean sweep of One Hotspur Members and Supporters Clubs Player of the Season awards and let’s not forget a goal just 79 seconds into his England debut, the third-fastest England debut goal of all time.
The latest milestones have arrived this month. Harry reached a century of appearances for the club at Southampton and marked it with his 47th goal in a fine 2-0 win and his double against Norwich on Boxing Day was one final sign-off - the most goals in a calendar year (27) in the Premier League era, toppling Teddy Sheringham’s 25. The next goal will be number 50.
“The year has gone quite quickly!” reflected Harry. “It’s been a real whirlwind and I’ve racked up the numbers.
“It’s a good achievement to reach 100 games for this club and hopefully it’s the first of many because I want to make many more appearances for Spurs and score many more goals.
“One hundred games is good but I want to get to 200, 300 and see where we go. I’m enjoying every minute at the moment.
“I’ve got to keep going, try to take it one game at a time. I don’t think about the records or anything like that. It’s been a great year and hopefully 2016 will be even better.
“We’re doing well as a team, we’re young and the club is moving into a new stadium. There is so much to look forward to.”
