Harry's dream

Harry Redknapp said he'd realised a dream by taking the club into the group stages of the Champions League.

Harry Redknapp said he'd realised a dream by taking the club into the group stages of the Champions League.

The manager was naturally delighted after we beat Young Boys 4-0 in our play-off, second leg at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.

Peter Crouch was the hero with a hat-trick with Jermain Defoe also on target as we won the tie 6-3 on aggregate.

It guarantees six games in Europe's elite competition and we'll find out exactly who we're playing when the draw takes place at 5pm UK time on Thursday evening.

"It's fantastic," said Harry. "It has been an awful long time since Tottenham played in the top European competition and to get into the group stage now, that was the dream for me when I came here and we've achieved it.

"We just wanted to get through and now we are in the group stages we will give anybody a game at White Hart Lane.

"There will be some great games here, we are all looking forward to it and we will try to progress in the tournament as far as we can.

"We are a good side, we have good players and it will be a great experience for us."

'Crouchy' headed us into a fifth-minute lead to level the tie on aggregate and nudge us ahead on away goals.

'JD' drove home off the post to take us into the overall lead and 2-0 up at the break before another header and then a penalty took Crouchy to his hat-trick. Incredibly, all four goals were created by Gareth Bale.

Harry insisted that first goal was key though. "Yes, that was important," he said.

"They kept the ball well, they had the extra man in midfield and they pass it well, they look technically a good passing team so we had to keep going.

"We scored the second goal and even then it was still game on if they had got a goal back but Crouchy took his goals well and it was a good performance.

"It was a little bit tense at times. I felt we didn't relax and keep the ball as well as we can but 4-0 was a great result."

Meanwhile, Harry reported that Heurelho Gomes had to be substituted at half-time after picking up a groin strain in the first half.

Carlo Cudicini took over in goal in the second half. "Carlo was safe and assured with what he had to do," added Harry. "He has been there and done it all so it wasn't a problem."
