Harry ready for Reds

02 April 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane wore a broad smile as he returned to Hotspur Way this week - delighted to hook up with his team-mates again after the international break and ready for the trip to Anfield.

You enjoyed that great win with England in Germany over the international break, is it good to be back and fully focused now on the run in?
“We had a good result in the international break and now all our focus is on the final stage of the Premier League. That’s good. That’s all our focus now – trying to win as many games as possible – and that starts at Liverpool on Saturday.”

A lot has been said about the young, English players in our squad so when you go to Germany and win like that, do you all come back even stronger?
Harry: “It was hard to take the focus off the Premier League because it’s so exciting and we’re looking forward to each game, but we did that and managed to get a great result. Now we’re back and all we want to do is get out there and play the games."

From a fans perspective, they are also looking forward to every game no doubt with a mix of excitement and nerves! Can you reassure them the players are happy and confident to get out there?
Harry: “Yes, of course, and now we’ve a game a week it gives us the chance to recover so we should be fully on it every game and we’re looking forward to it. A lot of us haven’t been in this situation before which makes it even more exciting. We need to go out there, play how we have been playing and try to get the three points.”

Everyone has been reminding us this week that we haven’t the best record at Anfield…
Harry: “It’s something we have to try and change. Last season was a good game but we ended up losing 3-2. We’re confident, we know we can beat anyone and we’ve said it all season, if we play how we know we can, we can beat any team. Liverpool are a good team, Anfield is always a tough place to go but we have to go out and there and try to get the three points.”

There has been plenty of crossover between the teams on international duty, so the team will know the Liverpool players well…
Harry: “They have good players, we were away with a lot of them with England, we know what they are capable of and we have to be focused, ready for what they can bring and of course, we want to win and put the pressure on the leaders. All we can do is continue what we’ve been doing and try to win games.”

How about your own form?
Harry: “I feel confident, anytime I get the chance I want to get my shots off, hit the target and try to score goals. I know the team I’m playing in will create chances so all I have to do is keep working hard for the team, continue getting in the right positions and hopefully keep scoring goals.”
