Harry ready for Daws battle

14 May 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane anticipates a different kind of duel to what he used to face on the training ground against Michael Dawson when we meet Hull City this weekend.

Centre-half Daws swapped White Hart Lane for the KC Stadium last summer and returns to N17 with his new club for the first time on Saturday.

With the Tigers battling to avoid relegation, the former Spur will be determined to keep the likes of Harry quiet as we compete for the points.

Having faced Michael countless times in training during the defender’s time at the Club, our young striker believes competing with him in a game situation with both sides determined to take the points will present an altogether different challenge.

“Games are always different – there are other tactics that are used,” said the 21-year-old front man. “Myself and Daws both played against each other quite a bit in training when he was here, but I’m looking forward to what will be a tough test against him this weekend.

“This sort of thing happens in football – you play against your mates. Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore are also in Hull’s side and we all got on well when they were here.

“Hull will obviously be fighting for their lives because of the situation they’re in, so it’ll be good to see the ex-Spurs lads but the job needs to get done from our point of view.”

Harry was on target when we came back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Hull earlier in the season, with Christian Eriksen memorably netting our late winner on that occasion.

And he believes the fact that it took us until the 90th minute to secure the points just goes to show how difficult the Tigers are to play against.

“It was a good 2-1 victory for us up at their place with Christian’s last-minute goal – we’ve had a few of them this season!” he added.

“Hull are a good side and they showed that last time we played them, so we’ve got to be on our game and ready for the test on Saturday.”
