Harry plays key role as U21s draw

10 September 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane came off the bench and set-up England's equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Finland in European U21 Championship qualifying on Monday night.

The striker entered the action for his second cap at U21 level in the 58th minute and 10 minutes later, helped set-up the equaliser for Saido Berahino at the Tampere Stadium. He picked out Wilfried Zaha who crossed for the West Brom forward to convert.

Harry almost won it late on but fired an effort inches wide.

Tom Carroll started for his fourth cap and later earned the praise of manager Gareth Southgate, alongside central midfield partner James Ward-Prowse.

Southgate told thefa.com: “I thought James Ward-Prowse and Tom Carroll were terrific.

“Even when we were down to 10 men, they kept probing and opening them up and did a disciplined job defensively when we needed that cover.”
