Harry Kane has targeted getting the goals to help England Under-21s tighten their grip on top spot in their UEFA European Championship qualifying group this evening.
The Three Lions take on Wales at Derby County FC, kick-off 6pm, in a commanding position at the summit of their qualifying pool, three points ahead of second placed Moldova with a game in hand.
Striker Harry – who bagged a hat-trick against San Marino earlier in the qualifying campaign – is in the squad for this evening’s contest along with Spurs colleague Tom Carroll, currently plying his trade in a loan spell at Queens Park Rangers.
And the versatile forward, who stepped off the bench for us in consecutive victories over FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Cardiff City this week, is licking his lips at the possibility of hitting the target in what could be considered a ‘local derby’ in European terms.
“It’ll be a tough game, but we’ve done well in the qualifiers so far and hopefully we can go and get the result and push on,” Harry said.
“It’s always a proud moment putting that shirt on. To play for your country is obviously very special and it’s bit of a rival match tonight as well, but I’m looking forward to it.
“Hopefully I can get some minutes on the pitch under my belt and get some goals.”
