Harry elated after latest Young Lions goal

Sun 12 October 2014, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane scored for the third England Under-21 match in a row on Friday and declared: “It’s a great feeling.”

Our young striker headed home Saido Berahino’s second half cross to cancel out Croatia’s early opener in the first leg of the Young Lions’ European Under-21 Championship qualifier at Molineux.

Berahino then scored from the penalty spot to give England a 2-1 advantage going into Tuesday’s second leg.

For Harry, who also hit the target in last month’s matches against Lithuania and Moldova, the feeling of elation has provided an added boost ahead of the return match in Croatia.

“It was a great ball in,” he said. “I just put myself in the right place at the right time and managed to head it in. It felt great to score, although the game was obviously tough.

“They got the early goal which made it hard for us but we played well, I thought we kept the ball well and we were creating chances.

“I believed if we kept doing the right things we were going to get the goal. Obviously we got that first one and then the second, which was great.

“We wanted to win the home leg for sure, but we know we’ve got another tough game on Tuesday night.”
