Hard work key - Kyle
05 November 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Kyle Walker puts our fine defensive record down to one thing – hard work.
Sunday’s goalless draw at Everton represented a seventh clean sheet in our first 10 matches in the Premier League – the first time we’ve achieved that feat.
Indeed, we’ve now kept our goal intact in 13 of our 17 matches in all competitions this term.
“Our job is to defend and keeping a clean sheet is like scoring a goal for us,” said Kyle, who has started 83 of our last 86 matches in the Premier League.
“We work hard in training throughout the week and it’s paying off. If you put hard work into anything you’ll get the rewards.”
Everton are unbeaten at Goodison Park in the Premier League in 2013 but only really threatened our goal in patches in the second half.
At the other end, Roberto Soldado headed wide and Tim Howard denied Sandro, Andros Townsend and Gylfi Sigurdsson, who had the final chance in injury time when he fired just wide.
“I thought we were excellent in the first half, they couldn’t handle us,” added Kyle. “It didn’t fall for us (in front of goal). We kept trying, kept plugging away and dug in. I’m sure the goals will come.”
