Michael Dawson is keen to keep the momentum of our successful Tour of the USA and Canada rolling when we travel to Helsinki to face Celtic this weekend.
While the match marks our fourth friendly outing of the pre-season campaign, our opponents’ involvement in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League means they have been involved in competitive action since mid-July.
They comfortably beat KR Reykjavik on aggregate and are currently trailing Legia Warsaw after the first of two legs - the return match due this Wednesday.
With that in mind, Daws expects Celtic to provide a stern test as we work towards the first match of the Premier League season at West Ham on August 16.
“Celtic have had the Champions League qualifiers but we’ll be going there as part of our preparations for the season, which is starting in two weeks’ time,” said Michael.
“The pre-season matches are all about getting to know the philosophy of the new Head Coach and the way he wants to play.
“We’ll be professional as usual and continue our hard work.”
