Hammers next for Spurs Ladies

14 November 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Local derbies are very much flavour of the month at Spurs - and while the first team prepare to face West Ham then Chelsea after the draw at Arsenal, Spurs Ladies take on the Hammers on Sunday (2pm).

In a change of fixture, the ladies face West Ham at Cheshunt FC (Theobalds Lane, Cheshunt) in the FA Women's Premier League.

West Ham have had a tough campaign so far in the FAWPL South but Spurs manager Karen believes there are signs they are starting to turn things around again.

"I'm pretty sure they are starting to regroup now and underlined that with good result against Brighton last weekend," said Karen, referring to West Ham's 2-2 draw against the high-flying Seagulls.

"But we can't be too concerned about that. We're at home now and we've got to concentrate on our game. We know if we play to our strengths then we're capable of beating any team."

The ladies, boosted by the return from injury of key midfielder Wendy Martin last week, are looking to build on a hard-fought 1-0 at QPR last weekend.

Still alive in four cup competitions, Spurs are in the leading pack in the FAWPL and looking to close on the top three of Cardiff, Charlton and Brighton.

"The players are together and determined to push on," added Karen. "We know we need to be consistent in the league and that means following up the win at QPR with another good display and positive result."

With no first team match this weekend, why not support Spurs Ladies?

It's FREE entry for One Hotspur Members and for non-members, just £3 adults, £1 Under-16s and OAPs and Under-5s are free.
