Gylfi Sigurdsson has a straight forward target for our Europa League quarter-final, second leg against FC Basel.
“We need to go out there and win the game,” said the in-form midfielder, as we prepare to travel to Switzerland for Thursday night’s return having drawn 2-2 in the first leg at the Lane.
Swiss champions Basel impressed that night and stormed into a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Emmanuel Adebayor pulled a goal back before Gylfi let fly from the edge of the box for the equaliser, dragging us back into the game.
Gylfi said we can take confidence from that recovery. “We managed to get back into the tie by drawing the game and now it’s down to us,” he added.
“We know what we’ve got to do. We’ve got to attack them and win the game, whether that’s in the first minute or the last. The important thing is to be in the hat for the next round.”
